Gone are the underpowered and impractical EVs; enter the next generation electric trucks, sedans, sports cars and NEVs. One thing these electric cars don’t have: exhaust emissions! Electric cars store their energy in rechargeable battery packs, often comprised of lithium-ion, nickel-metal hydride or lead-acid batteries. Motors driving the wheels draw from those storage cells, creating clean, emissions-free motion. Of course, electric cars must be plugged into the grid and recharged, but compared to petroleum-powered internal combustion engines, electric systems operate much more efficiently, with even greater potential as electricity generation techniques get cleaner and leaner.
Imagine commuting to work and back without burning a single drop of gasoline. Even better, imagine that the electricity used in that commute was derived from renewable, natural sources such as wind, water, sunlight or biofuel. Electric cars create this possibility; once the supporting infrastructure is in place, the reality will be realized.
